Year End Accounts

Year End Accounts Prepared Accurately and Filed On Time

Statutory accounts for limited companies, and year-end accounts for sole traders and partnerships.

Year End Benefits

A Clear, Accurate Picture of Your Year

Year-end accounts are more than a filing requirement. They show how your business performed over the year and where it stands at the end of it, and they are what HMRC, lenders, investors and potential buyers look at first. Every limited company must prepare them, and they form the basis of every business’s tax return.

We prepare your accounts in line with the UK accounting standards that apply to you, file them with Companies House and HMRC where required, and prepare your Corporation Tax or Self Assessment return alongside them. Our audit background shows in the detail: we reconcile balances, review the figures carefully and explain your results in plain language before anything is filed.

For companies, sole traders and partnerships alike, we can help you to:

  • Prepare accounts that meet UK accounting standards
  • File with Companies House and HMRC on time
  • Understand your results and what they mean for the year ahead
  • Keep your tax bill as low as the rules allow
  • Deadlines Met Without the Rush

Companies House and HMRC deadlines carry automatic penalties that rise the later you file. We agree a timetable with you after your year end, gather what we need early and aim to file well before the deadline, so year-end never turns into a scramble.

  • Accounts Prepared with an Auditor’s Eye

Our team’s audit background shows in the way we prepare your accounts. We reconcile balances, review unusual items and check the disclosures, so your accounts give a true and fair view and stand up to scrutiny from HMRC, lenders and investors.

  • Tax Paid Efficiently

Year-end is the moment to make sure you have claimed every allowance and relief available, from capital allowances on equipment to the correct treatment of expenses. We prepare your tax return alongside your accounts and look for legitimate ways to reduce your bill.

  • Insight for the Year Ahead

We do not just file your accounts and move on. We talk you through your results, compare them with the previous year and highlight trends in profit, costs and cash, so you can plan the next year with a clear understanding of this one.

A private limited company must file its annual accounts with Companies House within nine months of the end of its financial year, and a new company’s first accounts are due 21 months after the date it was incorporated. The Corporation Tax return is due 12 months after the end of the accounting period, and the tax itself is usually payable nine months and one day after it ends.

Companies House charges an automatic penalty for late accounts, which rises the later they are and is doubled if accounts are late two years in a row. HMRC charges separate penalties for a late Corporation Tax return. Persistent failure to file can also lead to the directors being prosecuted or the company being struck off the register.

Sole traders and ordinary partnerships do not file accounts at Companies House, but they still need accurate year-end figures for their tax returns, and partnerships file a partnership return as well. Well-prepared accounts make sure you are taxed on the right profit, and lenders, landlords and mortgage providers often ask to see them.

Mainly your bookkeeping records and bank statements, along with details of any loans, assets bought or sold, stock, and money owed to and by the business at the year end. We send you a clear checklist after your year end, and if we already keep your books, much of this is already in hand.

The fee depends on the size and complexity of your business and the state of your records. After a short conversation, we give you a clear quote in advance, with no unexpected charges later. Well-organised records usually keep the cost down.
